Redesigned BScene’s digital experience with improved navigation, modern visuals, and scalable social media templates to boost engagement.

Reimagining BScene for a Modern Audience
The redesign aimed to bridge the gap between BScene’s existing audience and the younger demographic it hoped to reach. We sought to modernize the experience without losing the platform’s community roots, ensuring it remained recognizable while becoming more intuitive, efficient, and visually compelling.
INTRODUCTION
OUR GOAL
Improve website usability with modern UI and advanced event filtering
Attract 18–25-year-olds while remaining accessible to older users
Develop scalable, branded social media templates to reduce staff workload
Build a roadmap for future ticketing and review integration
Strengthen brand recognition with a refreshed visual identity

RESEARCH
Survey 📋 - 14 students , age group 18–22.
Tree Testing 🌳 - 6 participants testing navigation of the redesign.
Competitive Analysis 📊 - EventBrite, Meetup, Narcity Toronto, Instagram based page Eoriginals.
Competitive analysis further highlighted opportunities for improvement. EventBrite excelled in offering integrated ticketing and review features, while Meetup demonstrated strong community engagement but lacked customization options. Narcity showed strong branding and visual appeal but offered limited user interaction, and Instagram’s Eoriginals provided high-quality visuals yet remained restricted by Instagram’s built-in UI limitations. These comparisons revealed a clear opportunity for BScene to differentiate itself by integrating ticketing and review capabilities while adopting a bold, modern brand identity that supports deeper interaction and more personalized event discovery.
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
The survey revealed that younger users primarily rely on Instagram and TikTok for event discovery, emphasizing the importance of visually engaging and mobile-friendly content. Participants expressed a strong desire for a centralized platform where all local events could be easily accessed, noting that the current landscape felt scattered and difficult to navigate. They also highlighted the need for clearer filtering options and a smoother overall browsing experience. Interests commonly included festivals, arts and culture events, community news, and opportunities for volunteering or part-time work. In terms of promotion, social media emerged as the most effective channel, while newsletters were considered more useful than long-form blogs. Overall, users showed a preference for app-like interfaces that support quick access, intuitive navigation, and seamless mobile usability.
SURVEY INSIGHTS
